General Information: The Rhode Island state statute governing mediation requires 30 hours of training to ensure the provision of confidential mediation services.  CMCRI’s Basic Skills Mediation Training (BMST) is a highly interactive 36-hour course, taught by experienced mediators and trainers, that schools participants in the fundamentals of the facilitative mediation process.

The training is focused on practical skill-building with many group exercises and role-plays, including a final role-play in which participants will conduct a full simulated mediation session and will afterwards receive individualized feedback and coaching.

Location:  The training will take place in CMCRI’s office on 570 Broad Street, Providence, RI, (401) 273-9999. Please note, we are located on the second floor in a building without an elevator. Please let us know if you have any accessibility issues, so we may make accommodations.

Continuing Education Authorization:  This training has been approved by the National Association of Social Workers, Rhode Island Chapter, for 34 total credits, including 2.0 in professional ethics and 3.0 in Cross-Cultural Practice.  CMCRI charges an additional fee of $10 to provide the NSAW-RI with registrant information.  Additionally, the Rhode Island Supreme Court has in the past approved this training for 3.0 hours of Ethics training for attorneys.

Cost: The cost is $675 per person, which includes a $25 materials fee and a daily continental breakfast.  CMCRI accepts credit cards through its PayPal account at www.cmcri.org

How to register:  Slots fill up quickly, so please call or e-mail us as soon as possible to reserve your space in the training. Please either send an e-mail to vmoreno-jackson@cmcri.org, or call (401) 273-9999.  If you have registered for the training, payment for the training must be received within one week of registration in order to keep your reservation for the class.

Please feel free to call with questions or for additional information.
